Salad Days.

🌿

After much, much procrastination,

I’m finally posting an introduction to my first essay collection.

, published on January 10, 2022.

I somehow managed to post this before its 2nd anniversary… Haha…

I fulfilled one of my bucket list items: ‘writing and publishing a book’.

I’ve lived quite diligently, busily undertaking various big and small tasks.

A friend’s remark, “You’ve created something that will last a lifetime,” resonated deeply with me. A book, like an alter ego of mine, that will float somewhere on Earth even after I’m gone.

This alone is quite overwhelming.

🌱 Introducing the Essay Collection

Shakespeare is said to have referred to one’s inexperienced youth as ‘Salad days’. My salad days, which I thought would remain fresh and green forever, are now fading. This book contains the stories I, at thirty, want to tell as I prepare to bid a proper farewell to my greenhorn days. It’s a haphazard mix of personal anecdotes that are neither too heavy nor too light, along with tastes and thoughts I’m still cultivating. In the fall of 2021, I gladly dedicated my first sabbatical to writing and modestly published my first essay collection, . While there are no particularly special stories, I hope it can contribute, even a little, to reminiscing about each of our own immature yet fresh salad days.

🪐 About the Author, Eotbi

A 6-year veteran office worker, currently employed as a commerce marketer. I dream of retirement whenever I get a chance, but I’m holding on, reminding myself of the preciousness of my paycheck. I observe the big and small everyday moments imbued with seasonal changes, and just as I’m serious about seasonal food, I love seasonal music. I write unconventional poems, enjoy accompanying drinks, understand the value of silly jokes, and believe that anything cute is forgivable. I am a person who is similar to you, yet different—somewhat alike.

👣 In Search of Readers

After haphazardly spending my twenties, I suddenly looked around and found myself already stepping into the adult world. I hope reaches readers who are somewhat like me, spending each day wondering if this haphazard way of becoming an adult is truly the right path. I hope that amidst these small stories, readers will chuckle, feel a pang of emotion, and finally close the book with a gentle nod.
