Life's a Flower.
I prefer spring days after all the cherry blossoms have fallen.
But this spring, it rained an unusual amount. So much so that it felt like monsoon season…
It was particularly frustrating because it seemed to rain more on weekends than weekdays.
This is a space to unpack the photos I’ve kept in my album.
When I put off posting and then do it all at once, it feels like I’m looking at a summary of the days I’ve spent,
and it’s nice because I can recall the mood and feelings from that time, delete photos that are unnecessarily taking up space, and generally get things organized!
Nini came to visit my neighborhood again.
Remembering that my mom loves bread,
Nini always brings a ton of bread whenever she comes, which is so thoughtful.
She’s changed jobs now, so we’re not at the same company anymore,
but I think she told me on this day that she’d probably be changing jobs.
Looking back, a lot of my colleagues have left, one by one.
Nini, a self-taught tarot reader, read my love fortune for the year.
As expected, it wasn’t super bright…
But I shouldn’t lose hope! You never know what life holds!

I finally went to the dentist after putting it off for ages.
A few spots were worn down, causing sensitivity when brushing, so I got treatment.
A dental X-ray after a really long time,
my straight teeth, thanks to my parents for raising me well,
I never knew what a huge blessing it was not to need braces,
but I feel it and appreciate it more as I get older.

My favorite spring color, fresh green,
a color that makes me happy just by looking at it!

One weekend, Jun and I went on an outing to Bukchon,
and visited Baek In-je’s House.

The place we went for lunch,
turned out to be dog-friendly, so besides us,
there were dog friends at every table.

A flower blooming on the terrace.
The colors and gradients,
and the dewdrops on it were so beautiful that I stared at it for a long time.

They say if you put a painting of the moon over a river near your closet, your love luck goes up, up,
It might sound like a superstition, but hey, it’s good energy, so why not!
Instead of buying one or using an image from the internet,
I drew it myself with oil pastels, also as practice.
Oh, spirit of love, come to me…!

I saw a play in Daehangno for the first time in years, truly.
I think the title was
First of all, I was so, so, so surprised by how many people there were.
I started watching with my mask on tight and a bit of anxiety,
but it was a great play to watch, getting some bright energy and laughing out loud after a long time.

Mid-April,
while working remotely, I moved roles to marketing and changed teams.
Our first team dinner was on Zoom,
I quickly whipped up the food myself and bought two bottles of wine with the dinner budget. Hehehe.

The season for white wine has definitely arrived.
One weekend, I drank Pinot Grigio white wine while watching a soccer game.
I tried it for the first time after a recommendation when Sauvignon Blanc was getting a bit boring, and it’s totally my taste!

This Parents’ Day, I decided to specially make a cash gift box!
The concept was that if you pull away the ‘thank you’ card next to the soap carnations, banknotes would roll out.
It was a bit of a struggle to make, and something happened when my mom actually tried to pull it out(?)
so I had to make it again, hehehe.
The event was eventful, but still, the thought and the cash are what matter most!

Magnolias bloom and fall, cherry blossoms bloom and fall,
and soon after, roses will entwine.
When I walk past streets with roses blooming, I feel that summer is coming soon.
These things repeat every year, but every time I see them, I’m filled with wonder, and find them beautiful and admirable.

Minjeong’s team gathering was at Minjeong’s new place.
I saw Mabaem after a long time too,
and on this day too, we drank an awful lot of alcohol…
Amazing folks…

Days when I got into walking.
The pastel sky colors, the apartment paint colors, the flowers blooming here and there – all so much my style.
Walking rhythmically to music is healing.

Every Tuesday is ‘Art Day,’ so I go to the office.
A mirror selfie on a day I wear my going-out clothes.

Mingdi’s younger sibling, Gaettong, is a broadcasting station PD.
Mingdi told me her studio apartment in Sangam was empty and invited me over, so I bought flowers and visited.

Sangam, a place I truly never have a reason to visit.
All the broadcasting stations are gathered there, and I noticed familiar places I’d seen many times on Infinite Challenge.
At one point, I wanted to be one of those ‘broadcasting station guys,’
so walking the streets and experiencing it indirectly made me feel unnecessarily excited.
Of course, for those who actually work here… all office workers probably feel the same… hehehe.

The next day, Mingdi and I went for brunch!
The owner kept saying the second floor was pretty, and though I was a bit annoyed,
I was surprised and impressed by how truly beautiful it was.

The ham hash brown Eggs Benedict was super crispy and delicious,
and the Eggs in Hell was excellent too!

On the way home, I bought flowers for myself.
Since I’m working from home, I spend significantly more time at home,
so I brought home some lisianthus, thinking that having flowers on my desk would be a nice change of pace.

Absolutely satisfied!
Just one flower really brightens up the atmosphere!

Day drinking to celebrate, hehehe.

It’s nice to buy flowers,
and it feels really good to receive them as a gift too!

I saw a performance at the Seoul Arts Center for the first, first time in ages.
An orchestra performance that Jun showed me!
A treat for the ears and the heart; music is truly magnificent.

After watching the orchestra,
I wished even more fervently that the COVID situation would improve soon so that ensemble practice could start again… ㅠㅠ I really want to perform!!!!
A spring night too lovely to go straight home~

Days when you can feel summer approaching,
the season for yeolmu bibim guksu is coming.

The day I went down to Bundang.
A home party with delightful people.
On the way there, it felt like Europe – the weather was amazing that day!

And on this day, I got a mask patch and tried it, and it was a whole new world…
When you attach the patch, a subtle lemongrass scent wafts out,
this is truly an innovative item!!!

The home party menu was
pizza, chicken, and white/red wine!

Looking back at those days, I ate a lot.
It really seems like I spend most of my salary on food and drinks…
Since going out is restricted due to COVID, the amount of money I spend on delivery food is also enormous.
Revisited The Xef.
The food we ordered that day was even more delicious than the first time we went!
Even though it was only my second visit, the owner recognized me. Hehe.

(Thanks for the flower ring, Jun <3 And thanks for the bracelet too!)

Finished off with sangria to cleanse the palate!

From here on are the grateful foods that have satisfied my taste buds
and filled my stomach during this time…
You all play a huge part in my happy daily life. Thank you. bows.
The combination of Manseok Dakgangjeong, abalone sashimi, and live octopus.

My neighborhood’s regular sotttukkeong samgyeopsal place!!!! The best!!!

Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk, especially the naejangtang, is amazing!
I had haejangguk that day.

Simmered dried pollock I had at home in butter and sugar, and had a solo drink with a cold beer.

Oh, I fell in love after eating naengmyeon here.
I didn’t used to like naengmyeon much,
but lately I feel like I’m starting to love naengmyeon… I guess I’m getting old…

On stressful days, it’s always dakbal (chicken feet)!!!!

A truly generous seafood set… it was the best…

The day I really craved kkomaek (cockles), I ordered them right away.
I even boiled the somyeon (thin noodles) I had at home and mixed it all up to eat heartily.

A truly authentic Indonesian restaurant in Itaewon.
I’ve looked around and visited many places, but this one is the real deal!!!!!!
Next time I go, I’ll have to try other menu items!

I don’t usually buy desserts, but here’s an ice cream waffle I’m sneaking in.

This month’s new discovery is McDonald’s Egg Bulgogi Burger…
It was a menu item I truly would never have ordered in my life, but I tried it on recommendation and fell in love..
Let’s meet often!

Squid sashimi and makhoe (chopped raw fish) my mom bought after visiting Pohang…
It had an insane freshness and a truly divine taste..
Mixed with the special chojang (vinegared gochujang), it’s absolutely incredible…

Dad and I had Saembat Makguksu!
It was subtly flavorful and delicious.

I’ve been practicing for improvement with groups of 4 or fewer,
and playing instruments and performing songs together makes me wish even more
that the day everyone can gather and start ensemble practice comes soon ㅠㅠ I really want to perform this fall…

The last day of May
ended with my favorite movie, Her. It was perfect.
Still a really great movie even after watching it again after a long time…
Where is my Samantha?

You did well,
you are doing well,
and you will do well.
These are words I repeat to myself every day lately, and they subtly give me strength and comfort.
If others don’t say it, then darn it, I’ll say it to myself!
💜
