Bitter Turns to Sugar.
🎼My Ever Changing Moods_Naomi & Goro

When summer starts to seep in, I want to listen to bossa nova.
I want to let a song, flowing like an indifferent whisper on a breezy rhythm and a clean melody, fill the air all day long. Just like seasonal food, I have seasonal music, and around this time, it’s Lisa Ono.
Rustling my body on the bedsheets cooled by the air conditioner, I was listening to Lisa Ono when a song suddenly came to mind. I racked my brain to find the title, and I thought Lisa Ono sang it, but it turned out to be a song by Naomi & Goro.
They were musicians I had completely forgotten about for a while, but I’m glad to unexpectedly encounter them again.
Following Stan Getz x João Gilberto and Lisa Ono, I’m adding Naomi & Goro to my list of favorite minimal bossa nova artists.

Bossa nova definitely seems to thrive better in Japan than in Korea. Especially the delicate and slightly imperfect feel of English lyrics pronounced by Japanese singers makes the song even more charming.
I love nights spent lying down, listening to Naomi & Goro’s
Bitter turns to sugar, with Naomi’s gentle pronunciation and lovely voice as a backdrop, I sweetly close out today.
(I looked it up, and apparently, the original song is by the British band The Style Council.)
💿
Bitter turns to sugar, some call a passive tune
But the day things turn sweet, for me won’t be too soon
The hush before the silence, the winds after the blast
Oh the hush before the silence, the winds after the blast
I wish we’d move together, this time the bosses sued
Oh but we’re caught up in the wilderness and an ever changing mood
**
The love after the hate
The love we leave too late
The love after the hate, the love we leave too late
I wish we’d wake up one day, and everyone feel moved
Oh but we’re caught up in the dailies and an ever changing mood
**
The past is our knowledge, the present our mistake
And the future we always leave too late
I wish we’d come to our senses and see there is no truth
In those who promote the confusion for this ever changing mood
