A Refreshing Break

Headed to Yeongdeok to see my grandma after a long time.

This time, my sibling and I took turns driving for over 4 hours.

Before going to grandma’s house, we stopped by the sea for a bit -

The feeling of my stuffy mind completely clearing with the endlessly stretching blue,,

Even if I lived seeing the sea every day, would I ever get tired of it? 🌊

City dwellers in a concrete jungle love the sea ㅠㅠ

Cloud waves spread across the sky,,💙

Mom and the youngest sibling,,

Soju and seafood is the best combination..!

The sky turning pink while we ate dinner,,,

So incredibly happy, feeling so good

Zoning out and appreciating the moment..💕

Leaving the darkening sea behind,

Arrived at grandma’s house -

There was a photo in grandma’s room I hadn’t seen before.

It was none other than grandma and grandpa’s wedding photo,,,🫢

Grandpa at twenty-three and grandma at twenty-five.

An older-woman-younger-man couple back then haha.

Grandpa was tall and handsome ✨

Both of them look so young and fresh 💚

Right next to the wedding photo, a couple gracefully aged..💖

There was a very hip cookie shop in the neighborhood, so I checked it out.

Freshly baked cookies, soft and rich in flavor!

I wish I could live like the bear in the front seat.

Whenever I came to Yeongdeok, without a moment to be bored or idle,

I usually wrote, read books alone, and time just flew by.

But it seems my youngest sibling, in their early twenties, found the countryside quite boring.

While strolling around the neighborhood, we accidentally discovered a bowling alley!!

A bet on the bowling game.

The first game was just a warm-up!

I lost the first game by a narrow margin, but

Lo and behold… my complete victory in the second game!!!!

I got a spare and then two consecutive strikes..👏🏻

Wait, I’m actually good at bowling???

My sibling’s score was wiped out, but

I won completely with 74 - 120 🎳

On the morning of the last day, I decided to be diligent.

We set out for a morning walk along the Osipcheon River..🏞️

The air is amazing.. So refreshing!

Before heading back to Seoul,

For lunch, the local bulgogi hotspot #AsanSikdang

Like sukiyaki, you whisk a fresh egg yolk

and dip the charcoal-grilled bulgogi into it -

Delicious,,, I really overate haha

I should be on a diet,,,

Going down to the countryside definitely means having a cheat day 🌝

When city life in Seoul gets tiresome, the countryside is always healing.

Last weekend, I really rested deeply and had a great time before coming back up 💛

Next time, I’ll capture Yeongdeok in winter,,🫶🏻
